Mature Students
In order to qualify as a mature student for entry to courses offered through CAO, an applicant must be 23 years of age or more on 1st January of the year of entry to the course.
IT, Tralee acknowledges and appreciates the valuable additional learning experience mature students bring to the Institute. Mature students are not required to have the leaving certificate or the minimum entry points. When completing the CAO application form, those applying as mature students should tick the relevant box on page 3 of the application form.
Each mature student is considered on an individual basis by the Institute, usually by interview. The Institute will try to facilitate the mature student’s entry to third level education provided we are satisfied as to the ability and motivation of the student.
NOTE: All tests and interviews for mature students applying to study NURSING are carried out by An Bord Altranais and not the Institute of Technology, Tralee. Contact An Bord Altranais for further details on 01 639 8500.
