Q. Where do lectures take place?
A.
In the IT North Campus, Dromtacker and IT South Campus, Clash, Tralee.

Q. How can I access information on courses?

Q. How do I register to attend a course?
A.
 To make it easier to apply for these places, potential students will apply online through Bluebrick.ie a single web portal for all Springboard related activities. A drop in facility is available where staff from the Lifelong Learning Department, IT, Tralee are available to answer queries on a one-to-one basis from 1 noon to 1.00pm Monday - Friday in June, July and August. No appointment necessary.

Q. How much will the course cost?
A.
Fees are stated in the course information section. Fees must be paid in full before beginning lectures and can be paid by bank giro, cheque/postal order or credit card , Visa/Mastercard,(cheques should be made payable to ITT). Invoices can be issued upon request

- all course fees are receipted.

REGISTRATION CANNOT TAKE PLACE WITHOUT FULL PAYMENT OF RELEVANT FEES.

What is  ITT's Refund Policy?

For courses of 15 weeks or more: a full refund will be given if requested before course commencement or during the first three weeks of course. A 50% refund is given during the fourth/fifth week and no refund is available after this period.

Please Note: Request for refund of course fees must be made in writing to the Continuing Professional and Personal Development Office. A 20% administration fee is charged in all cases.

Q. Is there financial assistance available for the payment of fees?
A.
As part of the Government’s newSpringboard initiative this September the Institute of Technology, Traleewill offer on a part-time basis a range of funded programmes. Nationally, Springboardwill provide 6,000 new places on higher education programmes for unemployed people. The scheme is targeted at those who were previously working but lost their jobs or were made redundant and who, with some upskilling, could fill current or future job shortages. Those who undertake the courses will retain their benefits and if they find a job, theywill still be permitted and encouraged to finish their course.

Springboard Participant Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to take up a Springboard course, the learner must meet one of the following criteria:

  • be unemployed for a period of at least 6 months prior to the course start date with a previous history of employment
    and
  • be in receipt of one of the following payments from the Department of Social Protection:
  • Jobseekers Benefit
  • Jobseekers Allowance
  • One Parent Family Payment
    or
  • be signing for social insurance contribution credits
    and
  • be actively seeking employment.


In calculating the qualifying period of 6 months unemployed, time in receipt of any of the following allowanceswill also be taken into account:

  • Disability Allowance; 
  • Back to Education Allowance (BTEA);
  • Back toWork Enterprise Allowance (BTWEA);
  • VTOS Training Allowance;
  • FÁS Training Allowance.


Note additional requirement for enrolments to Level 9 courses: A period of three years ormoremust have elapsed between date of completion of Level 8 qualification and date of Springboard course commencement.

Priority Target Groups

  • Priority Group 1
    Unemployed people who already hold a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) award at Level 5 or FETAC award at NFQ Level 6 or equivalent, with a previous history of employment in construction, manufacturing or other sectors of the economy where employment levels are unlikely to recover to pre-recession levels.
  • Priority Group 2
    Unemployed people with a previous history of employment who already hold a higher level qualification at NFQ Levels 6 to 9, who may also require additional upskilling or reskilling in order to re-enter employment.

Tax relief - People pursing part-time course leading to a Third Level qualification may be eligible for Tax Relief on their fees. Please see www.revenue.ie for further details
