My overall experience in ITT has been a very worthwhile experience. Having completed the Bachelor of Business Studies (Management), I am currently studying for my Masters in Business in Tralee. The Institute has excellent facilities and the new library is a fantastic centre for study. I would recommend an undergraduate course at IT Tralee for any adult living in the area. Time flies!

I chose this course as it offered a wide choice of career opportunities. Initially, I had intended to follow the marketing route but after completing the two years, I decided to pursue accounting. Having never taken accounting at second level, I can safely say that the excellent quality of lecturers in the IT, Tralee largely influenced my decision. I am now working as a trainee accountant in Tralee. I would highly recommend the IT, Tralee for its dedicated staff and friendly atmosphere.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience in ITT, and even miss being back there sometimes! I feel the mix of subjects involved in the Accounting degree was very helpful. There was advanced excel, which Iâm glad I did now because the workplace is heavily computer based, and I even got to study cultural studies, which is helpful for todayâs multicultural environment. The accounting subjects are taught to a very high standardas is evident from the professional accountancy exemptions available, but the lecturers made it achievable. They were very willing to help the students in any way that they could.

I chose this course because I was especially interested in travel. I enjoy the fact that as well as the academic side of the course, you get valuable experience in the practical aspects of Travel and Tourism such as Tour Guiding and Adventure Tourism. ITT is a fantastic place to study both from an academic and a social perspective. The facilities are excellent and the lecturers and the ITT staff give students a huge amount of support to enable them to succeed.

I decided to do this course as I have always had an interest in Travel & Tourism. I love to travel to different countries and experience different cultures. I enjoyed learning about the positive and negative impacts of tourism, I have learnt so much that I wouldnât have been aware of before. I have really enjoyed all aspects of this course. I found studying a foreign language such as Spanish beneficial when I was applying for summer work. ITT is a great college. I have made so many new friends from all over Ireland. The facilities are excellent, the newly constructed library caters for everyoneâs needs and the staff are so friendly and helpful.

I chose adventure tourism as I have always wanted to work in an outdoor activity centre and this course will help me achieve my goal! I really enjoy the outdoor activities as I am a very outdoor orientated person. Overall I am really enjoying my experience in the college. There is a great buzz around the place and it has given me the chance to meet new and exciting people. The facilities in the college are very good and there is help on hand for any problem that you might have.

I really like the outdoors and I thought it would be good to get a degree in something Iâm interested in. I really enjoy the field trips and the practical elements of the course. IT Tralee is a great college, very friendly. Iâm from Cork and coming to Tralee has given me a chance to meet and get to know people from different places that I donât think I would have met if I had stayed in Cork. The facilities are brilliant. The Cube reading room and the Library are great facilities. The Students Union is very good and will always help if they can.

I graduated from IT, Tralee in 2006 having completed the Advanced Certificate in Professional Cookery. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of the lecturers and facilities at the college. Since graduation I have worked in L'Ecrivian in Dublin, I have also worked in Longueville House in Mallow as well as travelling to West Cork to learn about the cured meat industry. The college gave me an appetite for the industry and really pushes students to be the best in their field. I was lucky enough to receive a Johnson and Wales Scholarship to Rhode Island in the states and I know the experience that I received in IT, Tralee has and will definitely stand to me in this profession. I am currently studying on a masterâs programme in food innovation and product development.

I have recently completed a two year Tourism Hospitality Studies course with the Institute of Technology, Tralee. The course prepared me for a wide variety of operational roles in the hospitality industry. It provided excellent opportunity to gain experience in more than one area of hospitality operations which might help you to decide which particular department you would like to work in. What I loved about the course was that training covered both theory and practice; I was able to practice my skills working in the Instituteâs restaurant and during work based learning. Among other subjects I also studied food and beverage operations, professional wine studies, rooms division with accommodation and front office operations. I believe that the two year Hospitality Studies course has given me a great foundation for taking on any challenge in the hospitality industry- it allowed me to get place in Dunloe Castle Hotel, a five star hotel in Killarney- working as the Accommodation Supervisor. In 2008 I graduated with the Advanced Certificate in Tourism Hospitality Studies. I won the Failte Ireland Prize for Student of the Year Award 2008. It made me even more proud to be a student of IT, Tralee

I enjoyed all aspects of the course, the hands on approach - seeing the end result no matter how it turned out - thereâs always a lesson to be learned! The ITT has great facilities and support was always there, all you had to do was ask for help and you got it. The lecturers couldnât do enough and were with us all the way... words of encouragement were free flowing and genuine. As part of the course, we went on a field trip to Paris which was fantastic and I made good friends during my time at the Institute.

I chose Professional Cookery as itâs just my passion to know more about food and this course will take you to a different level - not necessarily only to become a chef - itâs just an eye-opening experience. I enjoyed it very much, because I found the lecturers very helpful and friendly, I loved my two years in Tralee. I was privileged to be selected from the HCT department, to go as an exchange student to the USA. Overall my experience in the ITT was good, and every second, minute and hour was a learning experiencing from all angles!

Interactive multimedia offers great opportunities for creative people who want to become part of the media industry. I enjoy every element of this course because it will provide me with a variety of skills including graphic design, web design, video use, audio, animation and developing critical thinking. There is a great atmosphere in college and lecturers are very friendly and helpful. Choosing IT Tralee was my best decision and my course will provide me with great career opportunities.

I am really looking forward to going into my third year of TVRB, it will include working in a real live radio station for 3 hours a week and 12 weeks of work experience in a workplace of our own choice. The students of IT, Tralee are so friendly and welcoming. The Institute is a great place to go to college because of the ambiance each and every student and member of staff creates around campus. I have loved attending the IT, Tralee and I know I will never forget my experience here.
Aisling Hickman Fitzpatrick,

The course really allows me to study the areas which I enjoy in music; the technological and the actual creative side of music making and production. The course really gives you an insight into many areas of the media industry which you can pursue in 2nd year which is great to open up your options. Lecturers are friendly and helpful and really make sure that you understand what is going on in the subject which is great for easing your transition into 3rd level education.
PJ Rankin,
Year 1 BA (Hons) in Music Technology
The subjects studied were extremely relevant to my current position and my time spent studying at the ITT exceeded my expectations and prepared me well for my career. The course was extremely beneficial in securing my current role as a Computer/Business Lecturer as it covered all the major areas of knowledge, which I am now passing on to students. My course allowed me to progress on to a Masters in Business at IT, Tralee and also a Higher Diploma in Training and Education. The standard of facilities in the ITT are tremendous. The societies and sports clubs within the college are a great way of getting to meet new friends with common interests. While I was in the ITT I joined the music society and formed a band which were called the âOdd Socsâ and met lots of friends, some of which I am still friendly with today.

This Course offers a variety of both business and multi-media based subjects. It allows the student to explore many different aspects of learning through a well-balanced level of both practical and theory based modules. All aspects of the course will be undoubtedly hugely beneficial in my future career path. I particularly enjoy the multimedia aspect to the course. This component of the course teased out a personal flair for creativity and design that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. Attending IT Tralee has most definitely been one of the best decisions I have ever made to date. There is a marvellous community spirit within the college which has allowed me to make many friends. I plan to continue with my studies and hopefully pursue a career in teaching once complete.

Iâm the third family member to have attended IT Tralee and my experience was extremely challenging and enjoyable and the networking among students and lectures was very beneficial. The facilities here are very good and being based in my home town is great. I had two children while completing my course and the college has been very supportive to me. The services are excellent for everybodyâs individual needs and requirements. I have enjoyed my four years here in the institute and I would recommend the college to anyone who is willing to put in the hours - you must have an interest in your course. I have seen a lot of changes in the whole childcare industry and this course has prepared me to face these challenges and changes when I hope to commence work in September.
Christine Costelloe Sheehy,
Year 4 BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Care and Education.
The subjects on this course are really interesting and relevant.
Because the course is so broad it explores all avenues of
childcare and allows you to pick the elements of the industry
which most interest you. There is a good college work/life
balance, the course is really interesting and in no time at all
you get to know everyone in your class. I would really
recommend Early Childhood Care and Education at IT, Tralee
to anyone who has an interest in this field.
Louise O Connor,
Year 3, BA in Early Childhood
Care and Education
The IT, Tralee was a great college to attend, the lecturers were supportive, the library was well stocked and there was always fun to be had. In order to be considered for a position in residential childcare one must have a degree in social care and the subjects covered in all three years were invaluable in helping me to prepare for employment, to gain confidence and build a great knowledge of theory which I use when performing my duties at work on a daily basis. As a mature student I found the support services brilliant. It was great to get together with other matures for chats and support.

I always knew I wanted to work with young people, particularly those who have been marginalised for whatever reason and the BA in Youth and Community Work Practice will give me a lot of career opportunities. The creative practice element of the course is very enjoyable, we learnt practical techniques, like using music, to help young people. The classes are small and we have a lot of one to one interaction with our lecturers. Iâve made a lot of new friends and my confidence has increased as we have to give presentations as part of the course. Iâm really looking forward to the next year.
