What is the Higher Certificate in Arts - Bar Supervision about?

The licensed trade and hotel sectors offer a wide choice of employment. There are also career opportunities in airports, cocktail bars, restaurants, and private clubs and off licences - wherever wine, beer and other beverages are sold. Good bartenders offer the hospitality of hosts and the technical knowledge of connoisseurs and many progress to become wine specialists.

How is the course delivered?

Students attend classes which are both theory and practice based respectively these are delivered in semesterised mode. Work based learning is also an integral component of this programme and students may undertake this in Ireland or indeed internationally.

What facilities are available?


Practical training is provided in the bar and restaurant training facility in our dedicated Hotel, Catering and Tourism Department.

What are my career opportunities?

Graduates with the Higher Certificate in Arts in Bar Supervision will be qualified to work as bartenders and foodservice personnel in a range of hotels, bars and related service outlets both in Ireland and Internationally.


PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITY - LEVEL 7


Graduates of this programme are eligible to progress onto year 3 of the degree programme in Bar Management and Hotel and Resort Management.




PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITY - LEVEL 8


Graduates of this programme are eligible to progress onto year 4 of the degree programme in Bar Management and Hotel and Resort Management on successful completion of level 7 of same.




The lecturers at the ITT are so friendly and approachable and always available to help. The facilities are fantastic, and you get a real hands-on experience. I would definitely recommend this course and the college to anyone

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS


(1)5 Leaving Certificate subjects at OD3.  English must be one of these subjects.  Foundation Maths at B2 is accepted.
(2) Full FETAC Level 5 Award (Any Discipline)
(3) Mature (23 on the 1st Jan on year of entry to Course)
(4) Leaving Certificate Applied with One year’s relevant industrial experience and successful passing of Institute Interview
