What is the Higher Certificate in Business - Front Office Management about?

The programme provides the basis for a progressive career both for students seeking entry into the Irish and International Hospitality industry with a specialisation in front office management.

How is the course delivered?

Students attend classes which are both theory and practice based respectively these are delivered in semesterised mode. Work based learning is also an integral component of this programme and students may undertake this in Ireland or indeed internationally.

What facilities are available?


Practical training is provided in the hotel front office lab training facility in our dedicated Hotel, Catering and Tourism Department.

What are my career opportunities?

This programme prepares you for a progressive career as a multi-skilled professional in the dynamic hotel sector. The structure of the programme reflects the modern, focussed nature and operating environment of the hotel sector and the role of the front office manager in meeting the needs of a diverse client group within this context. On completion of the two year programme students can expect to work in a position of responsibility (Shift leader/supervisor) in larger hotels both in Ireland and Internationally.


PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITY - LEVEL 7


Graduates of this programme are eligible to progress onto year 3 of degree programmes in Arts Hospitality and Tourism programmes where compatible.




PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITY - LEVEL 8


Graduates of this programme are eligible to progress onto year 4 of degree programmes in Arts Hospitality and Tourism programmes where compatible and on successful completion of level 7 of same.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS


(1)5 Leaving Certificate subjects at OD3.  English must be one of these subjects.  Foundation Maths at B2 is accepted.
(2) Full FETAC Level 5 Award (Any Discipline)
(3) Mature (23 on the 1st Jan on year of entry to Course)
(4) Leaving Certificate Applied with One year’s relevant industrial experience and successful passing of Institute Interview
