Course Description

Retail Management

This programme offers those currently employed in the retail sector the opportunity to pursue a degree in retail experience management while simultaneously working with their employer. Each year the programme will comprise of the delivery of sixty credits of study through a blended learning approach. This programme will require candidates to spend two blocks of four weeks per annum at IT Tralee’s state-of-the-art facilities. These blocks will be in February and October allowing flexibility of learning during the busier monthsof retail.  During this period, four modules will be delivered. The remaining modules will be delivered online and through work-based learning.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should be employed in a sponsoring retail outlet for at least three months before course commencement. Applicants under 23 years of age must have passed five subjects in the Leaving Certificate including Maths and English. Mature applicants, (i.e. applicants over 23 years of age by 31st December 2020) are not required to have a Leaving Certificate. Students are required to have their own electronic equipment for all online delivery.

Year 1 Cost

The annual fee for entry in 2021 is €3,000. Fees for subsequent years are subject to increases as determined by the Department of Education and Skills.

Utilising Covid-19 special funding for 2021, €1050 of this fee will be paid by South West Gnó Skillnet, South Kerry Skillnet, or Rural Food Skillnet on behalf of candidates from eligible member organizations within the sector, thereby reducing the cost to €1950.

Progression Opportunities

Graduates from the BA in Retail Experience Management will be considered for advanced entry to Year 4 of the Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Managemen
