Manufacturing

 

The aim of this programme is to produce graduates of a high calibre who possess a thorough knowledge of scientific principles and engineering practice and are capable of working in the automotive manufacturing industry at an appropriate level. The primary objective of the programme is to further develop the design and manufacturing engineering skills of the student in this field.

On completion of this course the graduate will be able to:

  • Describe the theories and concepts in the field of automotive manufacturing engineering;
  • Utilise appropriate models and methods in the area of automotive manufacturing engineering to develop, design test and market new products;
  • Exhibit proficiency in using a broad range of engineering techniques;
  • Identify appropriate solutions to plan future developments related to automotive manufacturing engineering;
  • Integrate a range of acquired transferable skills such as computer aided engineering, finite element analysis, quality management, product design and development, automotive manufacturing, mproject management, machine control, instrumentation and monitoring and reliability engineering;
  • Accept accountability for achieving personal and group outcomes;
  • Develop personal capabilities and recognise the need for lifelong learning;
  • Work ethically and professionally as an individual or as part of a team in a multidisciplinary context.

 

Entry Requirements

Applicants must hold a NFQ level 7 award or equivalent in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Process Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.. The Institute’s policy in relation to recognition of prior learning (RPL) also applies. Applicants may also be required to attend for interview.

Duration

This programme will be delivered in a blended format part-time from January 2021 to December 2022. Students will be required to attend a number of workshops on-campus throughout the duration of the programme.

Cost

€4,000 (€2,000 per academic year).

IT Tralee has a long-established reputation in the field of Manufacturing Engineering. The modification of the existing course was designed with the assistance of expertise in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry and engineering staff with experience in this field who are lecturing at IT Tralee.

This course will provide students with a career in Automotive Manufacturing Engineering.
