What is in Pharmaceutical Analysis with Cosmetic Science

This programme is designed to develop your skill and competence to work as a laboratory science technician. Its primary focus is on those areas needed for someone working in a support capacity in any area of Pharmaceutical Analysis including:

Biology - Biology 1 & 2;
Chemistry - Chemistry 1, Chemistry 2, Organic Chemistry 1 & 2, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Applied Pharmaceutical Chemistry;
Analytical techniques and instrumentation used in research and development laboratories to isolate and identifying substances - Instrumental Analysis 1 & 2;
Pharmaceutical science in industry - Pharmaceutical Science 1 & 2, Pharmaceutical Microbiology.

You also cover:
Important maths principles - Essential Scientific Maths, Mathematics;
Physics concepts - Physics;
Using information technology - Computer Applications;
Laboratory safety and procedures - Good Laboratory Practice;
Maintaining quality - Statistics and Quality Control;
Learning - Learning at Third Level.

As a student of the programme you will take specialist cosmetic science content as follows:
Cosmetics - Cosmetic Biology, Cosmetic Product Formulation, Cosmetic Processing.

Holders of this Higher Certificate in Science in Pharmaceutical Analysis with Cosmetics will be eligible for employment in a support capacity in a science laboratory across a variety of sectors including manufacturing, research and development in the pharmaceutical, food processing and drinks sectors. Our two year Higher Certificate programme will introduce you to the analytical techniques used in pharmaceutical science. The Higher Certificate is an entry level award and should ideally be followed by further academic awards or on-the-job training as a means of career progression.
