What is the Diploma in Nursing Leadership about?

This postgraduate diploma is at NQAI level 9. The programme runs over one academic year and comprises 10 days attendance in the first semester and a further 10 days in the second semester.

The programme consists of 4 modules:

  • Ethical Judgement in Professional Leadership
  • Advancing Personal Effectiveness in Interprofessional Leadership
  • Research Methods
  • Management of Risk in Public Service

How is the course delivered?

This programme will be of 1 academic year duration and will comprise of 10 days (Wednesdays) of attendance in Semester 1 and 10 days (Tuesdays) of attendance in Semester 2. These days are under review and subject to change.  Any change would be notified in advance of the programme commencement.  The programme consists of 4 modules and totals 25 credits.

What facilities are available?

The Institute's nursing programmes are taught in the purpose-built Sólás building at the North Campus. This state-of-the-art facility has technology enhanced classrooms, lecture halls and practical skills laboratories, interpersonal skills and computer suites. Our partnership with the Health Service Executive and Bon Secours Hospital in Tralee offers students a wide range of exciting clinical placement facilities.

The Diploma in Nursing Leadership aims to enhance your personal effectiveness and leadership capabilities. On successful completetion of the course, you will have gained 25 credits at NQAI level 9 which can contribute to the achievement of other academic awards.


PROGRESSION


This diploma is being accredited by the Institute of Technology, Tralee and An Bord Altranais. On successful completion of the course students will have gained 25 credits at NQAI level 9 that can contribute to the achievement of other academic awards.




ENTRY REQUIREMENTS


Registered Nurses are eligible for direct entry to the programme if they have successfully completed a BSc. (Honours) Degree or an equivalent Level 8 NQAI Programme in Nursing or a related subject.
