The Department delivers a range of nursing, midwifery and health care related courses. The mission for the Department is to complement, augment and expand nursing practice. The Department aims to:

Maintain partnership between health care providers and the Institute of Technology, Tralee.
Provide courses leading to registration with An Bord Altranais.
Provide professional/specialist courses to meet local and national needs.
Provide ongoing education that responds swiftly to clinical practice requirements.
Provide opportunities for academic development of health care staff at all academic levels.
Promote, support and carry out appropriate research activity.
Provide appropriate developmental opportunities for all Department staff.
Raise and maintain awareness of educational activity provision within our nursing constituency.
Ensure that all educational activities are appropriately resourced.
Ensure that all activities within the Centre are effective, economic and efficient.
