The Department delivers a range of nursing, midwifery and health care related courses. The mission for the Department is to complement, augment and expand nursing practice. The Department aims to:
- Maintain partnership between health care providers and the Institute of Technology, Tralee.
- Provide courses leading to registration with An Bord Altranais.
- Provide professional/specialist courses to meet local and national needs.
- Provide ongoing education that responds swiftly to clinical practice requirements.
- Provide opportunities for academic development of health care staff at all academic levels.
- Promote, support and carry out appropriate research activity.
- Provide appropriate developmental opportunities for all Department staff.
- Raise and maintain awareness of educational activity provision within our nursing constituency.
- Ensure that all educational activities are appropriately resourced.
- Ensure that all activities within the Centre are effective, economic and efficient.
