The Department delivers a range of nursing, midwifery and health care related courses. The Mission for the Department is to complement, augment and expand nursing practice.

The Department aims to do this by:

• Maintaining partnership between health care providers and the Institute of Technology, Tralee.
• Provide courses leading to registration with An Bord Altranais.
• Provide professional/specialist courses to meet local and national needs.
• Provide ongoing education that responds swiftly to clinical practice requirements.
• Provide opportunities for academic development of health care staff at all academic levels.
• Promote,support and carry out appropriate research activity.
• Provide appropriate developmental opportunities for all Department staff.
• Raise and maintain awareness of educational activity provision within our nursing constituency.
• Ensure that all educational activities are appropriately resourced.
• Ensure that all activities within the Centre are effective, economic and efficient.
