AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF STUDENT ORIENTATION
Student Orientation
The Orientation Programme is the first step in integrating students into the academic and social life of IT Tralee and the local Tralee community. Orientation is designed to assist new students to the Institute in successful transition to 3rd level and to promote and encourage personal academic success and individual development. Topics covered in an informal and friendly atmosphere include an introduction to Student Support Services and Staff, administrative details such as registration and examinations, academic or elective briefing on course content and structure and an opportunity to find out about the structure, functions and operation of the Studentsâ Union.
Informative presentations, academic advising, and registration are designed to help the student to enter the Institute informed and confident about the upcoming years at ITT.
Registration
During registration/enrolment, the information supplied by you in your application will be checked by the staff in admissions and your student t-card (id card) is generated. You will need your t-card to use the library facility, computers, photocopying, Academic Affairs, Student Support Services and so on. (As part of the registration process, we are required, by the Higher Education Authority (HEA), to obtain information on social, economic and cultural background. The information obtained for this purpose is treated in the strictest of confidence and individual students are not identified in any analysis of the data.)
Elective Briefing (If applicable, delivered by relevant School)
