Mel Pronty - This class will serve as an Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga. Yoga is a philosophy of life, which also has the potential to create a vibrantly healthy body and mind. Ashtanga Yoga, practiced in its correct sequential order, gradually leads the practitioner to rediscover his or her fullest potential on all levels of human consciousness - physical, psychological, and spiritual.We will aim to learn correct breathing (Ujjayi) in conjunction with properly aligned postures (asana). Lastly, we will gain control of the senses and a deeper awareness of ourselves by using the gaze (dristi) . The breath is the heart of this discipline. By synchronizing movement with breathing, an intense internal heat which purifies the muscles and organs is produced.
