Tasty Treats at IT Tralee
Mouths were watering in Tralee last Thursday night when The Institute of Technology celebrated the international diversity of itâ¿¿s student body by hosting an international student food evening. Dishes from the students home countries were prepared and served in the Collegeâ¿¿s Hotel Catering and Tourismâ¿¿s training kitchens and restaurant, to the delight of those lucky enough to sample the international culinary delights.
Ably assisted and guided by the Instituteâ¿¿s trainee chefs & Tourism students, students from France, Poland, China, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and many other countries prepared and enjoyed a variety of international dishes from Braised Chinese Pork to Tart Tatin
â¿¿Weâ¿¿re proud that the Institute attracts students from all over the world. A diverse student body enriches the College in many ways both academically and socially!â¿ said Eddie Scully the IT Traleeâ¿¿s International Officer.
Over 150 students from outside Ireland chose to travel to study at the Institute in 2007/08 alone, which of course brings significant benefits to the local economy. IT Tralee prides itself on its international profile and currently has partnerships with over 80 Third level colleges in Europe alone.
Also attending the event was a group of 12 American students from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, who are attending lectures in the College as part of their Irish Cultural studies course.
