Science Week 2008


Science Week 2008 Science Week Ireland 2008 takes place from 9 th November to 16 th November and again the Institute of Technology, Tralee is organising many events in celebration. This yearâ¿¿s theme is 'Science â¿¿ Shaping Our World' which celebrates the International Year of Planet Earth. The theme will examine and explore emerging technologies, the latest movements in science and engineering and how we influence our changing environment.

The events in the I.T.T. begin on Tuesday 11 th .   One Tuesday and Wednesday the ever popular Cambridge Mathematics Roadshow which presents mathematics to primary school pupils with fun, hand-on mathematical activities,   will return.   The show will be presented by Susan Hickman of the Millennium Mathematics Project.  
On Friday, Paul McCrory from Think Differently Organisation will visit to demonstrate magic with a difference. Paul will present a Magic, Science or Mystery show which aims to figure out the science behind tricks.

On Thursday evening the Senior Science Quiz for Secondary Schools organised by the Irish Science Teachersâ¿¿ Association is scheduled to take place in the Institute.

Finally, on Friday, we welcome the return of the ever popular Cambridge Mathematics Roadshow which presents mathematics to primary school pupils with fun, hand-on mathematical activities.

Primary and secondary schools all over Kerry are showing great interest in these events and many are already heavily booked.
