Information Technology Support Course at IT, Tralee
A two year Higher Certificate in Information Technology Support will commence this September at the Institute of Technology Tralee. This accelerated technician programme has been revamped and from September, students coming on to this programme will be sharing a lot of their course time with other undergraduate students in the computing department. The course will run over two academic years and students will have an opportunity to go out on a work placement in the last part of the second year.
The course may appeal to individuals considering going back in to third level to upskill and retrain in computing. There never has been a better time to enrol in the Higher Certificate programme. Recent industry reports predict that there will be continued job opportunities in the technology sector in the future. Software in particular is still viewed as an industry with good prospects in Ireland, and unlike many other sectors in these difficult time, looks set for continued growth.
This course provides an opportunity for students to equip themselves with strong technical skills in preparation for the economic turn-around. The course consists of a combination of lectures, practicals, tutorials, projects and presentations. Most subject areas have practicals to illustrate concepts and enable students to develop relevant skill sets.
Students have access to state-of-the-art computer laboratories including specialist labs for mobile communications, multimedia, games development, network administration, computer architecture and software development. The Institute has a purpose built digital editing suite which allows students to edit video and sound files they have created in their project work.
