IT, Tralee Student Prepares for Charity Cycle to Galway

IT, Tralee Student Prepares for Charity Cycle to Galway IT Tralee student Ger Lovett is preparing for the 7th Annual Chernobyl Childrenâ¿¿s Project International Charity Cycle which takes place on the 12th and 13th of June 2009.

Ger, a native of Lixnaw Co. Kerry, has just finished his fourth year in IT Tralee studying a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physical Education. Ger is a huge cycling enthusiast, and sees this as a great opportunity albeit a challenging one.

Commenting ⿿I cycle quiet a lot so it⿿s great to be able to help a charity by doing something that you really enjoy. I⿿m looking forward to getting going and trying to put in a good performance in the event.⿝

â¿¿The minimum sponsorship for the event is €350 and the IT Tralee Students Union were generous enough to donate that amount to ensure I could take part and assist this very worthwhile charity⿝ he added.

Jono Clifford IT Tralee SU President said â¿¿It shows great commitment to the cause and it shows just how passionate Ger is about the charity.   We were delighted to support his efforts.⿝

On Friday 12th the Cycle begins in Cork . All cyclists will cycle to Limerick where they will bunk up for the night. And the on Saturday 13th Cyclists will depart from Limerick, with their next port of call being Galway . The total journey is 300 km. This in itself is a difficult enough task but for Ger it will be a little different.

Due to work commitments Ger will be unable to do the Cork â¿¿ Limerick leg of the Journey, so as he is so committed to doing the full distance Ger will join the group on Saturday in Limerick, cycle with them to Galway, and even though the race will be finished, on the Sunday Ger is going to Cycle from Galway back down from Limerick, by himself.
