Tom Crean Business Centre Company Wins Award

On the September 17, 2009 Text Tide, a company located at the Tom Crean Business Centre, won the Limerick City Enterprise Board Award for business with the best growth potential.

Text tide offers a simple and easy solution for individuals looking for tidal information.   To avail of the service an individual simply has to text the word tide followed by a location, for example tide Brandon , and Text Tide sends back the tidal information for that location for the next 24hrs.

According to Ann Sheehan, Owner and Partner Text â¿¿ As a company we have decided to focus on a niche market and use the timing of economic downturn as an opportunity . â¿¿

Text Tide began with an idea about getting tidal information via a text message.   With the help of the Limerick City Enterprise Board the company embarked on a feasibility study, which included a study of the market place in order to build a customer profile.   Since commencing the service in March 2009 over 1600 customers have availed of the service.

The company continues to gain feedback from its customers and have developed the services offered based on this feedback.   Today Text Tide now provides tide, wind and swell height text information.

According to Anne â¿¿We are a start up company and we do have our challenges but like all entrepreneurs we have the energy vision and with the resources like Enterprise Ireland we can make an idea into a business.   The next few months will be challenging but our focus is on our service and on our customers.⿝
