Phenomenal Response from Aspiring Entrepreneurs to Endeavour Programme

The Endeavour Programme for entrepreneurs today announced a shortlist of 66 candidates, more than double the expected figure for this stage of the selection process. Launched earlier this month by the Institute of Technology, Tralee and Shannon Developmentâ¿¿s Kerry Technology Park, the programme received a phenomenal 500 expressions of interest from applicants throughout Ireland and the UK.

Endeavour will offer ten successful applicants the dream launch pad to bring their business concept to life as part of an intensive seven-month fast-track programme, culminating in an International Funding Showcase next April. Shortlisted candidates have emerged from a range of industry sectors including Energy, Telecommunications, SAS and global web based businesses.

Commenting on the level of interest, Jerry Kennelly, Stockbyte founder and co-creator of Endeavour, explains, ⿿The response to this Programme has been phenomenal and beyond expectations. We set out to attract business people with globally scalable business ideas and we have not been disappointed.⿝

Each of the shortlisted applicants will go through a Business Validation Workshop on October 5 th to allow them to fine tune their business concepts. This will be followed by Business Case Presentations on October 15 th and 16 th when entrants will be required to submit a more detailed business plan and present it to a panel of business mentors. Based on the outcome of the judging process, ten successful applicants will be announced on October 19 th . In addition, Enterprise Ireland will provide support and salary subvention to eligible applicants.

Due to the high calibre of shortlisted candidates and depending on the outcome of the upcoming judging process, we may look to increase the final number of programme places.⿝

Successful participants will be personally mentored one to one by household names in the business world such as Chairman of the Choice Hotels Group Frankie Whelehan, Chief Executive of DAFT Eamonn Fallon, Founder of Worldspreads Group PLC Conor Foley and Executive Chairman of Jacob Fruitfield Group Michael Carey.

Other names committed to lending their weight and worldwide expertise to Endeavour are former Tánaiste and FEXCO Executive Vice Chairman Dick Spring, CEO of Kerry Group Stan McCarthy, founder and former CEO of Stockbyte Jerry Kennelly, Chairman of Aer Arann Padraig Oâ¿¿Ceidigh, CEO of Irish Management Institute Dr Tom McCarthy and Head of Crisis Clinic, the Communications Clinic Terry Prone.
