Pathways to Third Level - Special Purpose Award

Pathways to Third Level The Pathway to Third Level @ IT Tralee is a Special Purpose Award which has been developed by the Institute in response to a request from RAPID. Applicants are required to complete 2 modules and upon successful completion of the programme students may progress onto the programmes outlined below in September 2011.


Course Content:
The programme comprises of two taught modules at Level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework (NFQ).

  • IT Applications  
  • Learning at Third Level

Entry Requirements:
Anyone over the age of 23 by 1st January, 2011.   A prior educational qualification (e.g. Leaving Certificate) is not necessary.  Admission will be on the basis of a completed application form and an interview and applicants will be assessed in terms of their experience, motivation and overall potential to do well on the programme.

Progression Opportunities:
On successful completion of the Special Purpose Award graduates of this programme will be guaranteed a place on one of the following IT Tralee Courses for September 2011 (subject to quota):

  • Higher Certificate in Business â¿¿ TL 220
  • Higher Certificate in Business (Tourism) â¿¿ TL 003
  • Higher Certificate in Business in Office Information Systems â¿¿ TL350
  • Higher Certificate in Science in Computing in Information Technology Support â¿¿ TL888
