The Official Languages Act 2003: Process, Challenges and Opportunities
The Seminar took place at the Solas Building, Institute of Technology, Dromtacker, Tralee on Friday 26th November.
The Seminar discussed the background, methods and preliminary findings of a study funded by the IRCHSS (Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences) which explored the policy trajectory of the Official Languages Act (2003) [OLA] from its negotiation into law at central government level to its implementation in front line service bodies such as health, education and local government.
Organised by the research team of Dr.Muiris Ó Laoire, Dr. Clare Rigg, and Dr.Vasiliki Georgiou from IT, Tralee School of Business, Humanities and Social Studies keynote speakers included the Language Commissioner, Seán Ó Cuirreáin and Dr.Pádraig Ó Laighin, UCD.
