ITT Confirms discussions with other educational Institutes
IT, Tralee has today confirmed that it is in discussions with a view to the creation of a Technological University with Cork and Waterford Institutes of Technology.
President of the Institute, Mr. Michael Carmody stated that â¿¿the attainment of a University for County Kerry has been a long-term objective and the engagement with CIT and WIT is a welcome development in helping to achieve this goal. The proposed technological University will be a key driver for the future economic development of the region. University designation will also further enhance international opportunities including student recruitment and collaborative research.â¿
Mr. Flan Garvey, Chairman of the Governing Body welcomed the opportunity to create a University for Kerry and outlined that he is looking forward to working with potential partners to ensure the continued growth of the Institute as an integral part of a new university.
International experts who have experience of establishing and managing this type of multi-campus University have been appointed to develop a model for the creation of a Technological University.
