Adult Learners Festival at IT, Tralee

Adult Learners Festival picture 1 The fifth annual nationwide Adult Learners' Festival will take place from February 21st to February 25th 2011.  The festival is a week-long celebration of adult learning coordinated by AONTAS, the National Adult Learning Organisation.  It is about celebrating adult learning and the achievements of adult learners; showcasing the work of adult education providers; promoting the work of AONTAS and the adult education sector and ensuring that adult education is placed firmly on the political agenda.

The Institute recognises that adult learning has a hugely important role to play in the economic and social future of the region and more than 20% of those currently studying in IT, Tralee are mature students.  To celebrate the festival IT, Tralee is hosting a number of events including a celebratory lunch for mature students in the Hotel, Catering and Tourism Training Restaurant on Monday and coffee mornings on both our North and South Campuses.  A learning tree was situated in the Library all week for mature students to share their thoughts on their experience to date as adult learners.

Adult Learners Festival picture 2 IT Tralee provides a wide range of supports for mature students whether they are studying on a full-time or part-time basis.  Our prospectus of part-time courses will be available in May 2011, to request a copy call our Lifelong Learning Co-ordinator on 066 7191701.
