IT, Tralee Students to Represent Ireland in CIOB Finals in the UK
A group of students from the IT, Tralee were recently announced winners of the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB) Regional Student Challenges and will now represent Ireland in the UK & Ireland finals which will be held on March 31st in the CIOB Head Quarters, Englemere, England.
IT, Tralee emerged victorious after the Limerick heats of the national competition, beating student teams from IT Carlow, Galway-Mayo IT, DIT, Waterford IT, Limerick IT, Cork IT and Athlone IT on February 17th. As part of the competition, students were set a scenario challenge in the construction sector and within a four hour period were required to present a series of suitable recommendations to a judging panel.
IT, Tralee secured enough scores in this heat, to beat off the competition from the winners of the other regional heat that took place in Belfast on February 5th. The teams that participated in the Belfast heat included the South Eastern Regional College, BMC, the University of Ulster Jordanstown, Letterkenny Institute of Technology, Northern Regional College, North & West Regional College and WYG Training.
The IT, Tralee students who will represent Ireland in the UK are Jeffrey O Connor, Noel Lynch and Adrian Doyle from Tralee and Austin Rooney from Beaufort, Killarney. Each of the students are in year 3 of their studies at the Institute completing courses in the areas of Quantity Surveying or Construction Studies.
