IT Tralee Culinary Arts Student wins National Pork Recipe Competition and is to share in Neven Maguires "Secert to Success"

IT Tralee Culinary Arts Student Keith Pigott Keith Pigott, a First Year Culinary Arts student at IT Tralee, won the national competition for best pork recipe, as part of the Pork experience, which is a nationwide initiative run by Bord Bia. He recently took part in the annual Pork experience training day, hosted by Bord Bia at IT Tralee, one of the many venues in which this was hosted around the country.

The day included a pork butchery demo, talks on the pork industry, and also a cookery demo by Neven Maguire, who is Chef Patron of the world acclaimed MacNean Bistro in Black Loin, County Cavan and is the Star Chef of the current television series the "Home Chef".

Students from all over the country, were asked to submit recipes using secondary cuts of pork, as part of their participation. The prize for the winning student is a weeks work experience with Neven in MacNeans Bistro an honour for any upcoming culinary student.

Keith won the competition with his recipe for a Medley of Pork, which included a slow roasted shoulder of pork oriental style as one of the main features. Keith is delighted to have been chosen out of over 200 students nationwide and cannot wait for the weeks work experience.

T.J O Connor Hotel Culinary and Tourism Department said this chance for Keith to work with a Chef of such calibre as Neven Maguire is an excellent opportunity and I am sure Keith will benefit greatly from the experience.
