IT Tralee Focuses on Culture and Heritage Tourism as Minister addresses students
The Minister of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Mr Jimmy Deenihan visited the Institute of Technology on Monday 21st November 2011. As part of his visit he delivered a lecture to both 2nd year Adventure Tourism and Travel and Tourism Management students who are currently undertaking modules in the area of Arts and Culture Tourism and Conservation and Heritage as part of their programme of study.
The lecture gave the students a great insight into the current strategies being employed by government in these areas. The Minister has extended the offer to return early in the new year and also perhaps to engage with students to get their views on new proposals and strategies. The Visit was organised by Lecturers Majella Pierse and Fiona Tobin. According to Majella Pierse “the visit was important as it helped to inform students about matters of current debate in the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, which has direct relevance to their study area of Tourism, Culture and the Arts”.
