My Vision for Europe

As part of the International Day held on Thursday 1st December, 2011 at the IT, Tralee, Transition Year students were presented with prizes acknowledging their success in the IT, Tralee “My Vision for Europe” competition.   As part of the Department of Foreign Affairs “Communicating Europe” initiative, the Institute worked with twelve schools from Kerry, Cork, Clare and Limerick, whereby a presentation was given to transition year students about life in Europe.   Following this presentation, students were encouraged to enter a competition themed “My Vision for Europe” submitting entries in the form of artwork, essays, poetry and posters.    The competition was also open to students studying   at the Institute. The competition winners were:

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Dr. Oliver Murphy, President   IT, Tralee, commented on the high standard of the entries and the level of understanding of the current issues facing the EU demonstrated by the competition winners. He also acknowledged the efforts of all involved at the Institute and thanked the Transition Year Co-ordinators of the participating secondary schools for their help and support of the project.
