Hospitality and Bar Students at IT Tralee

Recently students on the Bar Supervision, Hospitality Studies and Restaurant Operations Management programmes at the Hotel Culinary and Tourism Department at IT Tralee, received a Master Class in the Art of Cocktail Making and also delved into the world of whiskey appreciation. The Master class was delivered by the new Cliff Bar Academy. The Academy is located in the heart of Dublin at St Stephens Green. The Cliff Bar Academy brand name stands for knowledge and passion. The Instructors are true Industry professionals with a passion for service that has sustained some for almost thirty years working at the five star levels. The team has wide international experience with Richard Linden working all over the world including five years at the famous Chewton Glen Hotel in the UK and also as head teacher for the world largest bartender school.

Hospitality and Bar Students at IT Tralee Anke Hartmann has been working in some of the industry’s top places for the last ten years including Michelin starred restaurants in Switzerland, England and Ireland. She was mentored by Gerard Basset OBE (Best Sommelier in the world 2010) and was recently accredited with her WSET Diploma.While John Moriarty career has always been at the internationally acclaimed Park Hotel Kenmare, attending to a multi cultural customer base.

The Master Class complemented the students' studies and it is planned later this year that the students will partake in further workshops with the Cliff Bar Academy. It is programmes and opportunities such as these combined with the knowledge and passion of the lecturers in this area of study at the HCT Department at IT Tralee which keep our students at the cutting edge within the Bar/Hospitality Industry.
