IT, Tralee Welcomes over 1,000 Potential Students at Open Day 2012

The Institute of Technology, Tralee, last Friday 9th November, welcomed potential students and their families to its annual Open Day. The ever-popular event was held from 9.30am to 1.00pm at both the North and South Campus and attracted in excess of 1,000 potential students from throughout the county as well as counties Cork, Cavan, Meath, Dublin, Limerick and Clare.

Each academic department at the Institute hosted an information stand where lecturers and student buddies were on hand to deal with individual student queries.  In addition, talks, workshops and demonstrations were delivered throughout the day.  Some of the most popular and interactive demonstrations included; Scratch Programming, cookery and cocktail demonstrations and TV and Radio studio tours and presentations. Representatives from Student Services and Admissions provided information to students regarding the CAO application process, the costs of going to college, accommodation and adapting to student life. Tailored workshops were also delivered for students with disabilities and mature students. Current students were also on hand to talk about their experiences at the Institute, while Students Union representatives gave an insight into student life on campus.

Commenting on ITT Open Day, Ms. Brid Mc Elligott, Head of Development at the Institute said “once again our Open Day has been a great success attracting significant student numbers. Open Day provides potential students with the opportunity to visit the Institute and to meet with lecturers, current students and support staff. Open Day is an important event in our calendar of marketing activities and I would like to thank all involved in making it such a success. “

The ITT will be offering a range of new programmes through the CAO for entry in September 2013. These courses are in areas such as Social Media and Web Technologies, Computing with Mobile App Developments, Culinary Arts, International Business and Food Science with Agribusiness.
