Spin South West and The Fanzini Brothers 'as Gaeilge' at ITT!

IT Tralee Seachtain Na Gaeilge Week 2012  Spin South West and The Fanzini Brothers will provide music and lively entertainment to launch Seachtain na Gaeilge in the ITT on Monday, March 12 at 1pm in the stylish new Plaza area in the North Campus in Dromtacker.

Bang FM, the ITT Radio Station,will run a quiz and will promote and use Irish contemporary songs and music by bands such as The Coronas and Bell x1 and broadcast interviews in Irish, produced by the students of  Irish.

The students of the ITT have organised an exciting schedule of events for Seachtain na Gaeilge 2012.The aim of Seachtain na Gaeilge is to promote and celebrate Irish language and culture.

Central to the events in the college is a concert with both students and staff,  giving a display of their varied musical talents. Dr Susan Motherway is heading up the event and says it promises to be an entertaining and lively occasion on Tuesday,  13th March at 1pm in the R Block.

2012 IT Tralee Seachtain Na Gaeilge Week  The Irish feature length film, “An Gaeilgeoir Nocht”,  will be screened in T116 in the north campus at 11.00pm on Wednesday ,14th March.  Written by a Dingle native, Marina Ní Dhubháin, it is an hilarious black comedy and translates as ” The Naked Irish Language Extremist”!

Rachel Ní Riada of Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne is a guest lecturer who will present on the reality of the current use and promotion of Irish , in R102 at 10.00am on Thursday , 15th March. Rachel will join students and staff  for a relaxed chat in the canteen at 11.00am. All are welcome to both.

Lunch time on Thursday,  15th March  is the opportunity to learn to dance “The walls of Limerick” or improve your “ Siege of Ennis” steps  while getting great exercise, as dance teacher, Sharon Costello will host a Set Dancing workshop in the R Block at 1.00pm.

A music session with both students and staff will bring an enjoyable end  to  Thursday  night  in Bettys, on Strand Street.
Bang Fm will wind up Seachtain na Gaeilge with highlights from the week on Friday, 16th March and the presentation of the quiz prize for correctly finishing  an Irish proverb!
