The Institute of Technology, Tralee will host the 11th Annual EU debate on Thursday 13th March 2014 at 7.30pm in L108 at Sólás Building. This event is organised as part of the government's Communicating Europe Initiative and is supported by the EU Commission and Institute of Technology Tralee. The guest speaker for the evening is Mr. Tim Hayes Head of Communication at the European Commission in Dublin.
Two teams representing the School of Business studies and the Government sponsored Springboard Programme will debate the topic of Irish sovereignty in what promises to be a lively and informative debate. The motion for the debate is: 'This House believes that Ireland is no longer sovereign'. The proposition team include Martina Burke, Marcus Harig and Anna Claire O'Connor and the opposition include Miriam Heylin, Maurice Enright and Justyna Makowska.
The Institute’s annual EU debate provides a forum locally for debate and critical reflection on Ireland's EU membership. The event is free and open to the public.
