As you can imagine, the Conferring ceremonies involve a great many people. Therefore we would greatly appreciate your co-operation in ensuring that they run smoothly. Each ceremony is expected to last approximately 2 hours.
The venue for the Graduation is the Brandon Conference Centre. It is wheelchair accessible. If you or one of your guests require assistance to access the venue, we will be delighted to help. Please let us know in advance what assistance you need. (Contact Martina Culloty, Tel 066 7145665)
Invitations
Your invitation permits you to bring up to two guests to the Conferring ceremony. Seating in the Conferring Hall is limited for health and safety reasons. Please remind your guests to bring along the invitations you have received in your Graduation Pack on the day. Entry will be by invitation only. It will not be possible to gain admission WITHOUT an Invitation Card. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR GUESTS ARE AWARE OF THIS TO AVOID DIFFICULTIES ON THE DAY
Approximately 330 Graduates will receive awards at each conferring ceremony.
If you are unable to attend your graduation ceremony, you will have your award conferred in absentia, and your parchment will be sent to you by registered post to the address we hold for you on our student database in due course.
Hire of Academic Dress
Graduates must wear the academic dress appropriate to the Awards being conferred on them. Rental of gowns etc. for the Conferring has been arranged through Phelan Conan Associates.
Gowns may be rented at a cost of €30 (by cash or by cheque (made payable to Phelan Conan) in the Winter Garden Room, Level 2, Brandon Conference Centre. Graduates are strongly encouraged to collect gowns the day before the conferring to avoid queuing. Graduates who are unable to collect their gowns on the 26th October must collect them on Friday 27th October 2006. You should try to remember to bring along safety pins and hair clips to secure your cap or hood.
