Offers of Places on Courses - Courses Offered Through CAO

CAO makes the offers of places on courses on behalf of all Institutes of Technologies. Applicants who wish to accept the offer made must return the acceptance form to CAO to arrive by the date and the time specified in the letter of offer. Otherwise, the offer lapses and is withdrawn.

The offer cannot be reinstated while there is a waiting list of applicants for places on that course. If the number of applicants for a course exceeds the number of places available on that course, places are allocated on the basis of the national points scheme given in the CAO handbook. Applicants are offered the highest preference course to which their points entitle them. If a higher preference course choice becomes available in IT, Tralee or in another Institute, in a later round of offers, it will be offered automatically. However lower preference course choices cannot be offered in a later round of offers.
