The Institute offers an extensive range of programmes from Higher Certificate to Postgraduate level in a number of disciplines from Business to Computing, Social Studies, Health and Leisure, Engineering, Construction Studies, Informatics, Nursing, Life Sciences and Hotel, Catering and Tourism. In September 2005, the Institute of Technology Tralee awarded sports scholarships to twelve students who will be studying at the Institute for this academic year. The scholarship students come from Kerry, Limerick, Waterford, Mayo, Roscommon and Cork and are sporting enthusiasts in football, hurling, handball, camogie, soccer, judo, basketball, racquetball, hockey and athletics. According to Dr. Oliver Murphy, College Registrar the sports scholarship programme provides a great opportunity for students who can demonstrate excellence in sporting activities. "This years recipients are involved in many forms of sport. In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients are also assigned an academic mentor who is available to assist with any student queries or issues that may arise during the students' time at the Institute." Details of the 2006 scholarships have recently been issued to schools throughout Ireland and are available on the ITT website at www.ittralee.ie. Sport scholarship applicants must demonstrate exceptional sporting ability and must meet the minimum academic requirements for their chosen course of study. Applications are invited from leaving certificate students, mature or non-standard applicants, students who are currently studying atthe Institute and students transferring from another college. Jennifer Healy, ITT Sports Officer, who is the co-ordinator of the scholarship initiative, is delighted with the amount of interest the scholarships have generated to date. “Sporting activities have always played a pivotal role in life at the ITT. We are pleased to be in a position to support our outstanding athletes in their academic and sporting endeavours” she stated. Application Form is available to download |
