LGBT 2008/2009

The LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Society or QT- Queer in Tralee have gotten off to a great start this year. With members of the society attending Pink Training this year the society is sure to have successful year.

The LGBT Society is an equality and support network for people whose sexual orientation is not always supported within society today. The LGBT Society has already held a successful Quiz night – ‘The Big Gay Quiz’ and also a coffee afternoon in a café in town. Between these events and the weekly/fortnightly meetings being held in the college there is definitely a great support network being formed in the IT Tralee.

The LGBT Society held the first ever IT Tralee LGBT's Rainbow Week from April 20th - 24th. Throughout the week there were information stands, quiz nights, coffee mornings and a Drag Night in Horans.

LGBT members came away with Society Awards 2009 - Best Chairperson - Mary O Sullivan (Chairperson of LGBT) and Best Individual Contribution to Societies - Ben Slimm (Secretary of LGBT). Well Done!!!
