The Society provides a range of services to people with dementia and their carers. All our services are 'dementia-specific' i.e. they are designed to meet the particular needs of people with dementia. The philosophy which we operate in all our services is one of 'person centred care' â¿¿ where the person with dementia and their carer is placed at the centre of the care service, respecting the rights of the person with dementia, so that they are actively involved in making any decisions about their care.
Dementia-Specific Day Care Centres
Our professional care workers offer a dementia-specific day care service in a warm, welcoming environment giving true specialist care to people with dementia. An important feature of the service is that it provides activities outside the home, giving stimulation and care to the person and a break for the primary carer. Depending on their wishes and abilities, we offer the person with dementia a wide range of activities at our day care centres including reminiscence therapy, music sessions, gentle exercises, arts and crafts and personal care. Most of our centres provide transport and the day also includes a hot lunch.
