Dear David, Just thought you might be interested to know that the car that I think you call Peggy Sue and we call Dulcie was in an accident last week - I think the roll bar undoubtedly saved lives, and all got out more or less intact, so we are very grateful to you that it was there. Being a Land Rover, we have good hope that it can be reconstructed, and the engine etc. is all sound still. The story was that they swerved to avoid a child who ran out from the bushes and went into a skid - undoubtedly they ended up facing the other way down the road, but the damage to the roof suggests rather more than a simple skid. At some stage the passenger door either came open or the passenger decided to jump out, so the door is badly mangled.
The car has been very heavily used this year, going out almost every day, either vaccinating children in the villages, or taking our HIV testing team to test people who live out of town. It really has been a key part of our work and will continue to be so - in fact we had just given her a respray as the paintwork was getting rather tired, and we wanted to preserve her for the coming years.
So thanks again for the roll bar - it could have been very nasty for everyone without it. We remember you daily with the car being so much used!
