Module Description/Aims:

  Module Description/Aims:The aim of this module is to prepare students to design, plan, adapt and deliver/lead programmes in the aquatic sector of the leisure industry to a variety of ability groups, while meeting group and individual needs.Students will enhance their own development and that of the participants they teach from the community. The students will acquire the knowledge of the best principles and practices for establishing an aquatics school.

4Demonstrate an ability to reflect objectively on performance in a teaching setting.
5Design schemes of work and sessions plans for aqua activities for parent and baby/child and pre school groups.

Learning Strategies
Leisure skills (Aquatics) practical : The students will get the opportunity to teach a range of People with Disabilities with a variety of abilities from the community. Students will develop aquatic programmes for parent and baby and pre school children. The work includes experiential learning through teaching and participating, peer observation and reflective practice. Core text were identified to meet the requirements of the learning outcomes of the course.The students will acquire the knowledge of the best principles and practices for establishing an aquatics school. Students should be able to swim 20 metres on their front in the water, 10 metres on their back, rotate in the water and tread water prior to starting the module.<br><br>
Leisure Skills (Aquatics) Theory:The theoretical knowledge underpinning the competence and skills requirement of an aquatic teacher for a variety of aquatic programmes are taught through theory classes that refer continuously to elements covered in practical classes.Teaching the subject in this manner i.e through both theoretical classes and practical enable reflective practice and reinforcement of learning
