Module Description/Aims:

  This module will provide students with the skills and insights to explore the opportunities and challenges of being resourceful in their career. It will explore new perspectives for understanding the entrepreneurial identity and its role within an entrepreneurial process. It will require students to examine their own entrepreneurial ambitions and strengths. Students will learn about the different contexts of entrepreneurship. The module will provide students with the opportunity to apply the entrepreneurial process in when solving a problem. The module will explore the value of networking and mentoring and how to identify, develop and manage these relationships known as social capital.

Learning Strategies
This module is designed to combine a number of teaching and learning strategies which will explore the principles and practice of entrepreneurship. These teaching and learning strategies will include lectures, practicals and breakout discussion groups. Micro, Small to Medium Enterprises (SME) and global case studies will be assessed and discussed in both the commercial and non commercial sectors. Templates will be provided for use and critique. Relevant online resources will also be used where appropriate.<br>
Students will be presented with and instructed on how to apply and learn from the use of a recognised personal profiling index technique. <br>
Networking events and opportunities will be organised to allow the students to meet and interact with Entrepreneurial mentors.<br>

Assessment Strategies
Personal Profile Indexing: Submit and defend a paper illustrating their own entrepreneurial identity based on the outcomes and personal insights gained from a personal profiling exercise. (Learning Outcome 1)
Students, working in groups, will be required to evaluate and critique the business plan applied by an organisation in a relevant case study. The group will present their findings to a panel of cross disciplinary specialists. (Learning Outcomes 2 and 3)
Each student will be required to prepare and present an action plan to a cross disciplinary panel of specialists on their approach to solving a problem identified for a company of their own or as an employee of an identified organisation using the entrepreneurial process. (Learning Outcomes 1,2,3,4 and 5)
