Module Description/Aims:

  The aim of this module is to highlight the importance of asset management. The student will examine the non-core support services that must be managed inorder to maintain a world-class hotel or resort. The property and facility must work for the customer, the employee and the business owner.

On successful completion of the module, the learner will be able to:

1Justify the importance the management of hotel/resort assets and support services have to the hotel and resort business.
2Explain the significance of the role of the asset manager and how that role can benefit the operation and the development of the hotel/resort.
3Design systems for managing security, managing outdoor areas, managing refurbishment, and managing the maintenance of buildings and equipment.
4Implement all the health and safety responsibilies laid down by Irish statutes and Eu law.
5Design energy efficiency into hotel and resort buildings and operations.
