| AL Practical: This module operates on the principle of whole-part-whole teaching/learning strategy, with four 5 credit standard attainment benchmarks. Students cover; exercise to music, step, weights, cv machines, stretch and body conditioning. Master class sessions are followed by 3 blocks coving the 6 modalities where students have the opportunity to gain competency in small group work in each area building towards integrative product development at the end of year 2. Team teaching will be used, 3 staff members will deliver the 2 of the six areas, students rotate around the 3 groups in blocks of 12 weeks. All staff members will be involved in team assessing at the end of year 2. This encompasses choreography, music selection, cueing, experiential learning through teaching & participating, peer observation & effective feedback, reflective practice. Students complete a log of commercial classes completed attended. Students are also required to reflect on the classes they attend. | | Activity Leadership Theory
The theoretical knowledge underpinning the competence and skills requirements of an activity facilitator are taught through theory classes that refer continuously to elements covered in the practical classes. The team teaching approach taken in this module ensures that continuous links are made between subject matter covered in both the practical and theoretical sessions. Likewise assessment strategies ensure that students demonstrate their understanding by incorporating assessment elements that demand integration between theoretical and practical content. Teaching the subject in this manner i.e. through both practical and theoretical classes enable reflective practice and reinforcement of learning.
|
