Module Description/Aims:

  This module will enable learners to enhance their critical appraisal skills and further develop their competencies in relation to the enactment of evidence based nursing practice. It will provide opportunities for learners to gain knowledge and skills in the area of practice audit. It will encourage learners to extend their knowledge breath, kind, know - how and skills range in relation to their own areas of nursing practice. Through development of enhanced critical reflective skills, learners will be able to continue on the path of lifelong learning and practice development.

On successful completion of the module, the learner will be able to:

4Develop an appreciation of audit and the quality improvement process.

Lectures and discussions to explore and critically analyse theory using a discursive approach

Assessment Strategies
The assignment entails the formulation of an answerable practice based question. This requires an analysis and synthesis of the evidence. It will consist of 3,000 words and will be worth 100% of the module marks.
Repeat assessment strategy. Should the assignment not achieve a satisfactory level to pass the student will be required to resubmit a revised assignment that demonstrates that learning outcomes have been achieved.
