Research MethodsIntroduction to paradigms of research; researching within early childhood care and education, qualitative and quantitative modes of research, naturalistic inquiry, case study, practitioner inquiry, action research; description and evaluation of the various research methodologies; appropriate selection of data collection methods • direct observation, participant observation, interviewing and questionnaires; clear analysis and interpretation of data and critical reflection on findings; ethical principles of research; confidentiality and security of information, data protection; critical appraisal of research papers; writing research proposals and understanding the issues involved in conducting a small scale research study.
