Module Description/Aims:

  The module will introduce students to the principles of continuum wide sport development. The practice and provision of sport will be examined and opportunities for future change -using developmental frameworks- to devise enhanced ways of promoting interest, participation or performance in sport will be explored. Sports development as a contested term will be explored to allow the student to develop an appreciation of the range of meanings of the term.

Learning Strategies
The module will explore the theory and practice of sports development. Lectures will cover theoretical dimensions of sports development and tutorials will facilitate discussion of readings, learning tasks and relevant case studies. Where possible guest lecturers will be included to ground the perspectives.

Assessment Strategies
Assessment criteria will be given to students when assessment details are given. Assessments will be structured to promote additional learning as well as consolidation of past learning. Deadlines will be strictly adhered to and a daily reduction of 5% will be applied in the case of late submissions
