Implications of Covid-19 on Traveller & Roma transition to and progression within Higher Education Round Table

On behalf of Pavee Point Traveller and Roma Centre and the National Traveller Women’s Forum, I would like to invite to you to a virtual round table discussion on Monday, 29 June 2020 from 14:30 – 16:00. The purpose of this meeting is to consider the findings from the Implications of Covid-19 on Traveller and Roma transfer to and progression within Higher Education Forum Report.

This report resulted from a national forum that took place on 27 May 2020 in response to urgent COVID-19 associated concerns regarding third level education being expressed by Traveller and Roma students and parents and also adult learners hoping to continue or commence third level education in Sept 2020.  As there were a broad range of stakeholders represented, Maynooth University and Institute of Technology Tralee were invited to represent the third level sector.  The report sets out key findings from the forum and recommendations for Higher Education Institutions and education policymakers.

At the virtual round table, Anastasia Crickley, Chairperson Pavee Point Traveller & Roma Centre, Pavee Point, Maria Joyce, Co-ordinator of the National Traveller Women’s Forum, and Tracey Reilly, Maynooth University student will share the report findings.  The attendees at the round table can then consider how Higher Education Institutions can take on board the report recommendations and inter alia encourage and reinforce existing commitments to increasing Traveller and Roma access, participation and outcomes.
