IT Tralee Students Complete the Certificate in Hotel Analytics (CHIA) Course

CHIA

A group of 20 Students on the BA in Hotel Management (T.M.D.P.) recently completed the internationally recognised CHIA Certification course as a part of their Revenue Management Module under the professional guidance of Sarah Duignan (Director of Client Relationships – STR) and Michael Crossan (Lecturer in Revenue Management, IT Tralee). The certification in Hotel Industry Analytics, abbreviated as CHIA, is the leading certification for hospitality and tourism graduate and undergraduate students. The academic version of the CHIA certification was launched in 2012 with 50 universities involved in the pilot programme and nearly 400 students received the CHIA designation. The CHIA is geared to revenue managers, hotel managers, and research professionals and is the only hotel-related certification for industry professionals focused on analytics. The programme is jointly offered by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) and (STR) and it provides recognition of thorough knowledge of the foundational metrics, definitions, formulas, and methodologies used by the hotel industry. It Tralee is also an accredited member of the SHARE Center which provides resources to colleges and universities, including user-defined destination reports, comprehensive set of sample reports, a wide range of global industry publications, and access to articles and presentations. IT Tralee is the first college in Ireland to offer the CHIA to its students and students who have successfully completed the course will be able to use the “CHIA” designation after their names, just like their tutors and other industry professionals.
