The department offers third-level courses at certificate, diploma and degree levels in the Humanities. It also offers research and taught postgraduate degrees. The department manages and administers these courses in accordance with Institute Policy and Academic Council Regulations. The Head of Department reports to the Head of School of Business and Humanities.
Inter-agency collaboration between IT Tralee and Kerry ETB
The Kerry Take Note Music Project is a Youth Arts inter-agency collaboration run by Kerry Music Education Partnership. This multi-agency initiative comprising Kerry ETB, IT Tralee, Kerry Diocesan Youth Service, Kerry County Council & Ealain na Gaeltachta, is a youth music initiative with the aim of broadening access to music education and musical participation for children and young people across Co. Kerry. The 'Take Note' suite of music programmes includes a Vocal and Instrumental Tuition Initiative in schools, as well as various Mentorship, Residencies, Band Programmes and Music Technology initiatives. The current MOU between IT Tralee and Kerry ETB highlights the Kerry Music Education Partnership as a significant partnership initiative between the two agencies.

Tralee Interagency Coffee Morning May 2016
Recently an interagency networking coffee morning was hosted by An Garda Síochána and led by Insp Tony Sugrue at the “Just Us” - Garda Project building in Rahoonane, Tralee, Co. Kerry. Margaret Finch who is an ITT lecturer gave a presentation on the benefits of developing an interagency approach and this was reiterated by Insp Sugrue who has firsthand experience of this while working in other areas of An Garda Síochána in the Kerry Division.
