ITT is well served by a range of relatively inexpensive bus services. Special provision is made at weekends with coaches covering many routes not normally serviced by scheduled bus services. Through the Students' Union Office, students can avail of a range of national and international student travel concessions. Students will find that the wide choice of bus transport makes Tralee accessible from all parts of Ireland. First year students, especially, should familiarise themselves with public and private transport schedules which are published in the Institute and at the local Bus/Train Station.
Kerry International Airport is situated 20km from Tralee and has daily connections to Dublin (with Aer Lingus Regional) and London (with Ryanair from Stansted Airport, London and Frankfurt Hahn). A taxi from the airport to Tralee costs about 25 euro. If you arrive in Dublin Airport and do not wish to take a connecting flight to Kerry you should take the shuttle bus direct from the airport to Heuston Railway Station. From here you can take a train to Tralee. If you arrive in Cork Airport, you should take the bus to either the Train Station or the Bus Station. If you arrive in Shannon Airport, you should take a bus to Limerick and a connecting bus to Tralee.
There are several ferry ports if you travel with a car or as a foot passenger. These are Cork, Rosslare, Dublin Port, Dún Laoghaire and have services to either the UK or France.
