The Institute of Technology Tralee Charities Committee recently presented a number of charities with cheques totalling ¬7,500. This represented the proceeds from the Institute's annual Christmas concert and Lenten Fast. The beneficiaries were St. Patrick's Day Care Centre, St. Mary of the Angels, Beaufort, Talbot Grove, Baile Mhuire, An Aids Clinic in Lusaka and the Kenyan Oil Press Project - an Institute project in Nakura, Kenya.
These funds were in addition to the ¬18,000 already raised as a result of a sponsored Polka Dance at the top of Carran Tuothill in aid of the ITT's continuing efforts to raise funds for the Oil Press Project.
Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Michael Carmody, Director of the Institute, praised the hard work carried out by the students and staff of the Institute on behalf of these very worthy causes.
