IRAAL Conference 2022

Building bridges through Applied Linguistics

Friday 30 September and Saturday 1 October 2022
hosted by MTU.

About

IRAAL connects language academics and professionals, language teachers, researchers and junior researchers across diverse strands of work including applied linguistics, linguistics, sociolinguistics and many others.  We are an open and active community pursuing our aim of supporting language-related  research in all its forms and by organising lectures, seminars and workshops across Ireland.

IRAAL's history dates back to its foundation in 1975 to support research in applied and general linguistics in Ireland. It is affiliated to the International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA).  Our publications include the annual bilingual, open-access online academic journal TEANGA as well as special volumes on specific topics.

IRAAL’s National Conference 2022 will be held in MTU (Munster Technological University), inaugurated on 1 January 2021.  Sessions will take place on both the Cork and Kerry Campuses on September 30 and October 1, 2022.  At this time, it is fully intended that the 2022 MTU IRAAL Conference will be held onsite.

We hope to make IRAAL MTU 2022 a meeting place for productive and exciting conversations about how our work as applied linguists, within and across strands, might evolve in response to recent challenging events, and how we can increase  opportunities for collaboration, dialogue, and action among all presenters and attendees.
